Terms & Conditions for Text Messages/Phone/Email Contact

Should you contact Intersectional Insight by phone, email, form, or text you will be given the option to opt in to receive SMS messages from Intersectional Insight (“we,” “us,” “our”). If you opt in you agree to the following Terms and Conditions (Terms):

SMS Messaging Service

By providing my phone number, I consent to receive SMS text messages from Intersectional Insight for appointment reminders and general two-way communication about your treatment with Intersectional Insight. Message and Data Rates may apply.

Message Frequency

You will get more than one message from us unless you opt-out, and while messaging frequency varies depending on frequency of scheduled appointments and need to contact or be contacted by your provider, you will likely receive messages pertaining to your account with us as you request, or up to 4 messages per month. Intersectional Insight, PLLC reserves the right to alter the frequency of messages at any time to increase or decrease the total number of messages. Intersectional Insight, PLLC and carriers are not liable for delays or undelivered messages.

Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier’s terms.

Privacy Policy

Your information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy which you can also find on our website.

Cancellation/Opt-Out Instructions

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send you. After you opt out of text messaging, you will receive one additional message confirming your request has been processed.

Liability

We are not responsible for any charges, errors, or delays in SMS delivery or undelivered messages caused by your carrier or third-party service providers.

Note: It is important you understand the risks of sending and receiving health information subject to HIPAA via text message:

  • Texting/Email: Texting and email are not secure methods of communication and should not be used to communicate personal information.

  • You should carefully consider who may have access to your text messages or emails before choosing to communicate via either method.

  • Telephone: A provider may provide a telephone number at which they can be reached. This provider may not be available after general work hours (8 am - 8pm M-F). Telephone may not be secure method of communication and should not be used to communicate personal information.

  • Secure communications are the best way to communicate personal information, though no method is entirely without risk. Health Records and other related documents will only be shared through the Intersectional Insight practice portal once you become an established patient.

  • Intersectional Insight uses HIPAA Hi-Tech Secure Services whenever possible including Electronic Health Records, Email Accounts, and Video Conferencing. Electronic communications may still be subject to unintended disclosures and are considered to not be inherently secure forms of communications. By opting in to text messages or requesting email or phone communication from Intersectional Insight you understand that electronic communication is subject to unintended disclosures and is considered to not be inherently secure forms of communications. Any text/email/phone call received by a therapist, and any response may be kept in my treatment record.

  • Individuals contacting Intersectional Insight are protected under the provisions of the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This law ensures the confidentiality of all electronic transmission of information. Whenever information is electronically transmitted (for example, sending bills or faxing information), it will be done with special safeguards to ensure confidentiality.

  • Your Birthdate to connect you with Therapynotes. Our Electronic Health Record System that will also ask you if you would like to opt-in to receive SMS messages and is where all consent forms for treatment will be made available.

Analytics

  • We share analytics information with Squarespace, for website analytics provider, to learn about site traffic and activity. Squarespace needs the data to run this website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. Squarespace analyzes the data in a de-personalized form. Therefore our website collects personal data to power site analytics, including:

    • Information about your browser, network, and device

    • Web pages you visited prior to coming to this website

    • Your IP address

  • This information may also include details about your use of this website, including:

    • Clicks

    • Internal links

    • Pages visited

    • Scrolling

    • Searches

    • Timestamps

We do not share your personal information, phone number, or SMS consent opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

  • We try to minimize any cookies; The nature of having a hosted website includes some level of cookies that are beyond our purview. However, you have the ability to decide if you want cookies or to opt out of this collection on the website.

  • We do not collect personal data of children through our website. A parent or guardian must reach out to us and give permission for us to provide treatment to any minor.

  • You will receive even more detailed information regarding your privacy rights (e.g., to access, correct, or delete information we collect that is not accounted in relation to this website); and how to do so should you choose to receive treatment support.

  • Squarespace and as such our website, “does not currently recognize or respond to browser-initiated Do Not Track signals.
